On the way to Jacksonville to get my surgery
Ten years ago I was chosen from a litter of puppies at a local pet store and brought home to my wonderful father. I’ve grown up in NJ and have become an avid runner and enjoy lots of walks in the park. Unfortunately, in 2008, I developed two Mast Cell Tumors on on each side and underwent surgery to remove same. I didn’t want to go through aggressive cancer treatments after that since the tumors were removed. Then in February 2009, I started to have trouble walking on my front right leg. My dad and mom, whom I love dearly, took me to the hospital and we learned that I had some type of cancer cell in my lower front right leg. Wow did they do alot of tests after that. MRIs, CAT Scans, X-rays, Blood work, you name it I had it done. Well after the biopsy, I was told I had melanoma. The choices were to do nothing or start an aggressive chemo and radiation treatment. A third option was to amputate my leg. I chose the amputation!! And all things considered I’m doing pretty well. Today the 11th is my birthday, and Im jus relaxing with my parents and thanking God for them. I still get to see the doctor every three months and continue on my melanoma vaccine as well as my Deramax every morning. But Im loving my high fat and high protien diet. My surgery was April 3rd 2009 and Im still beating the odds, with the help from mom and dad. Thank you God.
